FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
WHO SHOULDÂ JOIN THE CLUB?
Purdue University Run Club is open to university students of all abilities and motivations, from those interested in competing in a range of events from sprints all the way up to the marathon, to those just looking to run a few miles with friends and and participate in social events. Everyone is welcome!
WHERE ARE PRACTICES?
Official practice starts in front of the Corec at 4:45 pm M-F. Practice is only cancelled by the safety officer in the event of inclement weather or a day we don't have classes.
HOW FAR DOES THE CLUB RUN EVERY DAY?
Run club is blessed to have members with varying skills. Because of this, we have multiple groups going multiple paces and routes. Typically on easy run days, the distances vary between 3-8 miles, and the paces vary from day to day based on how the group is feeling. If you are new to running or haven't run in a while, feel free to talk to one of the officers at practice, and they will host a fun-run group which will go shorter than 3 miles at any pace that's comfortable for the individual.

On workout days, those interested in doing the workout will warm up together, and run the workout at the decided location. There are always several groups of men and women with different paces according to ability.
IS THERE A SPRINTING/FIELD EVENTS TEAM?
Yes! Our sprint team coordinates meetings through our Slack. Contact an officer to get added to it. We have fun yet challenging workouts that are designed for those that want to run competitively or just stay in shape. Along with sprinting, we offer Long and Triple Jump, High Jump, Hurdles, Shot Put, and Discus.
HOW DO I JOIN THE CLUB/COMPETE IN MEETS?
1.) You must fill out the proper Club Sports wavier.

2.) You must pay annual club dues which are $20.

3.) Sign a NIRCA wavier in order to compete
-NIRCA (or National Intercollegiate Running Club Association) is our club running governing body that organizes most of the races we compete in throughout cross country and track. In order to compete in these events, you'll need to sign a NIRCA waiver. NIRCA waivers will be signed in person at practices.
